Algonquin Camping

From June 13 through to June 18, our plan is to go to Algonquin Park via Access Point 12 to Pinetree Lake: http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=45.545072,-78.313379&spn=0.020588,0.038624&t=h&z=15.

To find the parking spot off of Highway 60, we will drive from the West Gate of Algonquin Park (which is kilometer 0) past the Rock Lake road (around 42 km) for another 9.8 km. You'll see a little ramp across the shoulder of the highway into the woods on the right hand side of the road if you are looking very carefully. Pull off, and drive in about 30 meters (see satellite images above).

Clothes (do not bring jeans or cotton clothes unless it is a t-shirt or underwear). They must be wool or synthetics. I have extra wool socks needed. Note that you can buy wool pants and sweaters from Value Village or the Salvation Army for under $10.
Toiletries
Bring medication specific for you, but know that I have a robust first-aid kit (with portable MRI machine).

No food cans or glass bottles are allowed in the interior of Algonquin Provincial Park, so if you want beer, bring the plastic bottles available at the Beer Store. Fill a Nalgene bottle with wine, or get Wine-In-A-Box, etc… for alcohol. Or a plastic bottle full of gin.

I have reserved the spot and paid about $70 in booking fees, but each of you will need to pay once we get to the park. It might be around that much for 6 days or however long we go. I think it is about $12 a day. Check out the park web site (on the right at bottom) for prices.

We will need to rent canoes when we get up there. Check out "Algonquin Outfitters" (Oxtongue Location) to rent the canoe.
